DESCRIPTION:The Brisbane Girls Chess Tournament will be run by Somerville House this term. \nOpen to all girls from Prep to Year 12 \nDate: Saturday 13 June\nVenue: Fewings Building – Somerville House – Graham Street\, South Brisbane\nParking: Gate 6 & 7 – Graham Street\nCost: $30 per student\nEntries close 5.00pm Thursday 11 June. Players who arrive on the day without registering will be turned away. \nStudents will be supervised by arbiters on the day. Parents and spectators are allowed to attend\, but cannot enter the playing area. \n  \nTimes:\nRegistration: 10:00am to 10.30am\nGames: 10:45am to 2.45pm\nPrize Ceremony: 3.00pm to 3:15pm \nUniform:\nSchool uniform is not required for this event. \n  \nEntries and Payment:\nSomerville House students should enter through SomerLink \nAll other students can register here \nhttps://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/TBnmdUtyki \n◆ A canteen with sausage sizzle will be available\n◆ Children and spectators should not attend the tournament if they are unwell\nFor more information\, email Matt Gilpin at mgilpin@somerville.qld.edu.au \n  \nDivisions and Prizes:\nOpen Division:\n1st Place – Trophy and $150\n2nd Place – Trophy and $75\n3rd Place – Trophy and $50\n1st U700 – Medal\n2nd U700 – Medal\n3rd U700 – Medal\nTrophies and cash prizes decided on tiebreak.\nPlayers can receive only only prize. Players qualifying for the rating group will receive the highest prize they are eligible for; Trophy > Medal\, 1st > 2nd > 3rd. \nNovice Division:\nFor players with a QJRL of 550 and below. DESCRIPTION:Entries close Thursday 23 July \nDate: Sunday 26 July\nVenue: VPAC Auditorium—Level 5\nParking: Gate 6 – Graham St\nOpen to all students from Prep to Year 12\nCost: $30 per student \nRegistration Times\nOpen Division: 9:15-9:45\nNovice Division: 9:45-10:15\nBeginner Division: 10:45-11:15 \nAll divisions prize ceremony from 3:00-3:15 \nDivisions and Prizes: \nTeam: Students will play in teams of four. They will be paired individually\, their scores will added together at the end for team prizes. All students must be members of the same school (No composite teams). \n◆Novice – Under 550\n◆Open – All other teams \nPlayers rated under 550 can choose to move up to the Open Division if they choose to. \nIndividuals and teams with fewer than four players can enter the Novice Division. They may be at a disadvantage for team prizes\, but will still be eligible for individual prizes. \nMedal for the top three scoring teams in each division. \nMedals for the top three individual players in each division. \nThe Beginner Division is open to all unrated players in Year 2 or below. Medals awarded to top three players.
