The Brisbane Girls Chess Tournament will be run by Somerville House this term.

Open to all girls from Prep to Year 12

Venue: Fewings Building – Somerville House – Graham Street, South Brisbane
Parking: Gate 6 & 7 – Graham Street
Cost: $30 per student
Entries close 5.00pm Thursday 31 Augst. Players who arrive on the day without registering will be turned away.

Students will be supervised by arbiters on the day. Parents and spectators are allowed to attend, but cannot enter the playing area.

Times:
Registration: 10:00am to 10.30am
Games: 10:45am to 2.45pm
Prize Ceremony: 3.00pm to 3:15pm

Uniform:
School uniform is not required for this event.

Entries and Payment:
Entries must be completed on or before 5.00pm Thursday 31 July.

1st Place – Trophy and $150

1st U700 – Medal
2nd U700 – Medal

Trophies and cash prizes decided on tiebreak.
Players can receive only only prize. Players qualifying for the rating group will receive the highest prize they are eligible for; Trophy > Medal, 1st > 2nd > 3rd.

Novice Division:
For players with a QJRL of 550 and below. Also for unrated players.

Beginner Division:
For unrated players Year 3 and below.

The bottom three boards of the Beginner Division will use our ChessUp 2 electronic boards which will assist by showing the available legal moves for the piece they have touched.
